On The Eleventh Day Of Christmas

On the eleventh day of Christmas, our True Love gave to us…

…the eleven faithful Apostles. There were many disciples of Christ made up of men, women, and children. However, the Bible places emphasis on The Twelve. The eleven faithful disciples are a gift to us. Apart from being Jewish and relatively young, they were a diverse group. Some were married. Some were single. Some were tradesmen. Some were businessmen. Some were wealthy. Some were poor. Some cooperated with the government. Some despised the government. Some were quiet. Some were talkative. Some were cautious. Some were impulsive. They were men of obvious flaws, failures, and fears, not dissimilar from the rest of us. They were men in need of daily reliance on the grace and goodness of God. They were men of spiritual boldness, diligence, and success in their mission of bearing witness to Christ. They were a diverse group with a common goal: follow Christ. God had given the Messiah to the world as a gift. They followed Him wherever He led. Jesus is God’s gift to us. The example of the faithful disciples is God’s gift as well. Christ’s desire is for us to follow Him into the presence of the Father and to bear witness to Him (Christ) along the way. All of this is in spite of our past failures, present flaws, and future fears. This is walking in the Spirit.
